Doctorate (R1)

The doctorate is an essential step at the start of a research career (R1 level). It allows you to develop advanced scientific skills, produce original knowledge and become part of a long-term research path, both in FWB and internationally.

In order to support doctoral students and future doctoral students in this decisive phase, the FNRS and its associated funds offer several financing instruments adapted to varied profiles and disciplines. These schemes take the form of grants or mandates, and are awarded within the framework of specific calls (Bourses and Mandates, FRIA, FRESH, Télévie, IUE, etc.).
