Gender and inclusion

Over the past ten years, the FNRS has paid increasing attention to the issue of gender equality. This happens through a participation in collective actions , particularly within the bodies created by the government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, with the aim of promoting the exchange of good practices, but also to carry out networking, awareness and information actions in collaboration with the FWB universities. In this context, it publishes annual reports on the state of gender equality . The FNRS is also active at the level of intra-Belgian consultation on European gender equality policy.
Since 2022, the Fund has structured its gender equality policy around Multi-year gender equality plans to which a Gender working group is dedicated. The first edition of this Plan (2023-2025) for example led to the accession of the FNRS to the Belgian charter on inclusive panels and the establishment of a more inclusive communication . This plan also made it possible to make a set of provisions decided by the FNRS more directly accessible: they concern maternity, birth and parenthood . The measures against gender-based violence and harassment taken at FWB universities can also be consulted online, so that FNRS agents, hosted by them, can easily read them. As for the second gender equality plan (2026-2027), he just come into force .
