Research projects, Research credits, Incentive Grants for Scientific Research
The Fund for Scientific Research - FNRS launches a call for “Credits & Projects” applications every year. This call aims to support researchers in the development of research projects, by offering various funding opportunities.
This call offers a wide range of tools to provide researchers, carrying out a project of excellence, with scientific and technical personnel, equipment and operating means.
Research project - PDR
Instrument for financing single-promotion, single- or multi-university research programs, supported by a main promoter.
The single- or multi-university PDR provides for the participation of co-promoters.
The PDR lasts 2 or 4 years. Eligible costs are of 3 types: personnel, operations and equipment.
Weave Initiative :
Since 2021, some European research funding agencies have mutually opened their project funding instruments to research teams from partner agencies of the Weave initiative. Researchers from the French Community of Belgium can therefore include partners from another partner agency via the F.R.S.-FNRS PDR instrument.
The F.R.S.-FNRS offers the possibility of submitting proposals for collaborative projects (bi- or trilateral) within the framework of the PDR instrument during the Credits and Projects call with:
- German research institutions eligible under the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG): German partners will need to follow the guidelines outlined on the DFG Weave page .
- Please note: projects in collaboration with a German partner have a duration of 3 years with funding equivalent to that of a PDR lasting 4 years.
- The start date of the PDR is set for 1 er april and the end date is March 31.
- Flemish research institutions eligible for the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO): Flemish partners will have to respect the guidelines described on the weave FWO page as partner agency .
- Luxembourg research institutions eligible for the FNR Luxembourg (FNR): Luxembourg partners must respect the directives of the INTER program of the FNR.
- Swiss research institutions eligible for the Swiss SNSF (SNSF): partners must respect the guidelines described on the SNSF Weave page .
Research credit - CDR
Funding instrument for an individual researcher (or his team) to ensure the financing of basic research, ongoing research activities but also exploratory research or even encourage the emergence of new research themes and researchers.
Under a CDR, eligible costs are of 2 types: operating and equipment.
The CDR has a duration of 2 years (with the possibility of extending expenses over 4 years). Eligible costs are of 2 types: operating and equipment.
Incentive grant for scientific research - MIS
Funding instrument to support young permanent researchers wishing to develop a scientific unit within their university institution in a field of the future.
The research program will be distinguished by its originality and novelty as well as by the scientific autonomy that it assumes with regard to the work of the laboratory in which the candidate operates. Ultimately, it should allow the researcher to acquire independence in a “flagship” laboratory.
The MIS lasts 3 years. Eligible costs are of 3 types: personnel, operations and equipment.
