Opening of the Wernaers Fund for Research and the Dissemination of Knowledge 2025 call for proposals

The purpose of the Wernaers Fund for Research and the Dissemination of Knowledge is to support initiatives to promote research and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. To this end, the Fund will award in 2025 :

• A Specialisation Grant in Science Communication and Popularisation


• One or more Wernaers Prizes for the Popularisation of Science


• Grants to media that contribute to the development of interest in scientific culture

Specialisation Grant in Science Communication and Popularisation

• This stipend of €18,000 enables a scientist to deepen his or her knowledge of science education methods or to perfect techniques specifically designed to increase interest in science.


• Candidates must be attached to a university institution or a long-standing Haute Ecole in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.


• Candidates may not have reached the age of 35 by 3 March 2025 and must hold a PhD by 1 October 2025 at the latest.

Prizes for the Popularisation of Science

• These prizes, worth €6,500 each (for personal use), are awarded to people who have demonstrated creativity, innovation and relevance in communicating their knowledge.


• Candidates must be attached to a university institution or a long-standing Haute Ecole in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.


• Candidates may not have reached the age of 35 by 3 March 2025 and must hold a PhD by 1 October 2025 at the latest.

Grants to media contributing to the development of interest in scientific culture

• These grants, of a maximum of €15,000 each, contribute to the production, promotion, dispatch and updating costs of media that help to develop interest in scientific culture.


• Granted for a maximum period of 3 years, they are intended to support different types of media.
