Creation of a new thematic doctoral school
Within the É doctoral schools near the F.R.S.-FNRS (EDs) can be created one or more É thematic doctoral schools (EDTs).
An EDT may report to several EDs under the F.R.S.-FNRS.
Each EDT is placed under the responsibility of a scientific committee.
Composition of files
The files for creating a thematic doctoral school include the following elements:
- the name of the EDT
- the ED(s) near the F.R.S.-FNRS to which it is attached (maximum 3)
- the university institutions concerned, as well as, where applicable, other partner research institutions
- the scientific objectives of the EDT, the partner research teams
- the elements making it possible to judge the scientific quality of the research teams and the project according to the criteria usually recognized in the discipline(s) concerned
- the list of doctors trained over the last five years by all partner teams
- the composition of the scientific committee (which includes a spokesperson and a secretary)
- the training offered to doctoral students
- description of other SOW activities.
File review
EDT creation projects are presented to the F.R.S.-FNRS by the rectors of the partner university institutions. These projects are accompanied by the opinion of the Research Council of these institutions. The possible collaboration of research institutions outside the university institutions of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation will be accompanied by the agreement of their authorities.
Each EDT creation project is coordinated by a spokesperson.
Creative projects are examined by the F.R.S.-FNRS Doctoral School Commission. This requests the opinion of the scientific council of the attached ED(s). It may also seek the opinion of the competent scientific commission(s) of the F.R.S.-FNRS, as well as the opinion of any other expert.
Approval
Recognition within one or more EDs near the F.R.S.-FNRS is granted for a period of 5 years. Each EDT discounts for the 1 er March an annual activity report. During the 5 th year, a report relating to the activities and the results of the five-year period is drawn up for the FNRS. It accompanies, where applicable, the renewal request. This specifies and justifies any possible modifications proposed by the EDT scientific committee.
