Contact Groups

THE Contact groups , disciplinary or interdisciplinary, allow researchers to meet regularly during seminars. Their objective is to promote contact, as well as the rapid exchange of information and thoughts between Belgian and foreign specialists, whether they belong to the same scientific field or to different fields but linked by the same technique or by the use of multidisciplinary equipment.

Financing description

The contact group, disciplinary or interdisciplinary, allows a group of researchers to meet at regular intervals for seminars. The objective is to promote contact and the rapid exchange of information and thoughts between Belgian and foreign specialists, belonging to the same scientific field or to different fields linked by the use of the same technique or multidisciplinary equipment.

In short:

  • Object: Contact groups meet independently. The F.R.S.-FNRS covers, on a limited basis, certain costs incurred by two meetings per year:
    • participation in travel costs for researchers from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation,
    • reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses of one or more invited foreign personalities,
    • reimbursement of part of meeting and secretarial costs.
  • Procedure:
    • Creation request: to introduce, by email , specifying the objective of the group, its title, as well as the names of the President and Secretary. A list of personalities interested in the creation must be annexed to the request, with mention of the function and clarification of the fixed-term or indefinite nature of the status within the institution; it may include academic and scientific personalities from outside the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
    • Announcement of a meeting: is necessarily done beforehand , by email, with details of the location(s) and date(s).
